5 Ways to Give Back This Cheerful Holiday Season
With the weather returning back to its usual cold patterns today, the holiday season is definitely upon us! It is one of my favorite times of the year. Between the holiday lights/decor and the cheer surrounding the holidays, it is certainly a joyous and busy time for many. Yet, one thing I think many neglect to remember is while the holiday season is certainly a festive time for many, it can also be a season of hardship for others. Sometimes we get caught up in our own luxuries regarding the holiday season, and while some of us are stressing over which gift is better for their loved ones, others are struggling to provide a Thanksgiving or holiday meal for their family.
Around the holidays is a great time as any to give back to others, and help make their holiday seasons a little bit more festive! It is also known to help boost your own mental health and mood, and increase your own happiness levels as well. Below I have included some helpful ideas as to how you can help give back this holiday season!
Volunteer at a Food Bank
Look for a local food bank where you can volunteer and help those who do not have the ability to have holiday dinners feed their families.
Be Extra Generous With Gratuities
Whether you are finishing a meal at a restaurant or thanking a delivery driver, giving a few extra dollars in gratuity can really help brighten somebody’s day.
Donate to Your Favorite Charity
Consider donating to your favorite non-profit organization to help those who may not be as fortunate as you spread some holiday cheer.
Help Your Neighbors
Whether it be shoveling the snow, raking leaves, or taking out the trash, helping out your neighbors can go a very long way.
Contact Your Local Animal Shelter
Especially during the holiday season, animal shelters could be low on supplies, or could use some holiday cheer. While helping them take care of the pets, it could also be a fun activity for everyone to take part in.
